Cowboys’ Romo, Candice Crawford tie the knot | Video

DALLAS—

Just after 5 p.m. Saturday, bride Candice Crawford walked through the front entrance of Arlington Hall at Lee Park, hiding behind black umbrellas being carried by members of her wedding party.  The former 33 News reporter could be seen wearing all white and a vail.

Just minutes earlier, The 33 News caught exclusive video of most of the men in the wedding party arriving, including many of quarterback Tony Romo’s teammates on the Dallas Cowboys.  All were wearing black pants, while some were carrying or wearing white jackets, the rest with black jackets.

Shortly after the wedding party arrived at Arlington Hall, guests came through the other side of Lee Park, including Cowboys legends Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach, and current Cowboys Dez Bryant and Miles Austin.  After dropping off their cars to valets, guests walked up some steps and were greeted with colorful cocktails.

Earlier in the day, dozens of workers put together the finishing touches on the dream wedding.  Two massive tents were setup on the grass of Lee Park, capable of holding hundreds of the couples’ closest friends and family.

Near the grounds of Lee Park, Dayna Davis took in all of the excitement with her family.

“We’ve lived here for a year and a half, but it’s the first time we’ve seen them actually build a platform and build something like this, it’s crazy to watch,” said Davis.

Davis says she’s watched the wedding preps for the last 3 and a half weeks.

“We’ve seen the symphony here and the pooch parade and lots of things but nothing that’s taken over the whole park,” Davis told The 33 News.

Jason Pankz came by Lee Park to snap a couple of photos of the big day.

“I’ve lived down here many years, and they said it was going to be a small event, but this is the biggest wedding I’ve seen down here,” he said.

Pankz, a Cowboys fan, has an ulterior motive as to why he’s excited about the Romo/Crawford nuptials.

“I’m hoping now that he is in a solid relationship that the football improves with it,” said Pankz as he laughed.

That’s all the news for today.

Romo marries former Miss Missouri in Dallas wedding

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and former TV sports reporter Candice Crawford have tied the knot in what was called the wedding of the year in Dallas.

KDFW-TV says the nuptials were held Saturday evening at Arlington Hall, a historic mansion along Turtle Creek in uptown Dallas.

The Dallas Morning News reported Monday that about 600 guests attended the nuptials.

Former Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips was there, along with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones with his wife Gene. People Magazine reported that Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant also attended, along with receiver Miles Austin and guard Leonard Davis.

Groomsmen included the bride’s brother and “Gossip Girl” actor Chace Crawford, tight end Jason Witten and linebacker Bobby Carpenter. Michelle Witten (Jason’s wife), Cortney Carpenter (Bobby’s wife) and Jossalyn Romo (Tony’s sister) were bridesmaids, according to The Morning News.

Chace along with Danielle Derose, Tony’s sister, read from Ephesians before the vows and the Wittens’ son, C.J., served as ring bearer.

The 30-year-old Romo has been dating Crawford since late 2009. Crawford is a 25-year-old Lubbock native and former beauty queen. She was Miss Missouri in 2008.

The couple got engaged in December and registered at Crate & Barrel and Macy’s.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Romo weds pageant queen in Dallas

Updated May 29, 2011 4:41 AM ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo married local reporter and pageant queen Candice Crawford — little sister of “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford — at a historic Texas mansion Saturday night, People reported.

The couple were married at Dallas’ Arlington Hall, with Romo’s teammates, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Chace Crawford all believed to be on hand for the nuptials.

The reception was organized by wedding planner Todd Fiscus, who was responsible for Giants quarterback Eli Manning’s wedding.

On the menu were short ribs and pizza, with Fiscus telling CBS in the lead-up, “We did lots of man food. I have a lot of football players to feed.”

Fiscus told WFAA-TV that Romo was responsible for the music.

“Tony picked out every song, and when it plays, and what the keynote things are,” he said.

No outside cameras were allowed into the event.

Candice Crawford, a former Miss Missouri, began dating one of Dallas’ most eligible bachelors in 2009, two months after he infamously dumped singer Jessica Simpson.

Romo, 31, was also previously linked to “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood — who was a one-time love of Chace Crawford.

Romo proposed with an eight-carat yellow diamond ring on December 16, 2010 at Crawford’s 24th birthday party, which was held at the Dallas restaurant Five Sixty.

Meet Candice Crawford: The new Mrs. Tony Romo’s resume

tony-romo-candice-getty.jpgTony Romo‘s last two significant girlfriends were big-time pop stars — Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson, hello — but the Dallas Cowboys QB is set to marry someone with a slightly lower profile, Candice Crawford. The couple will wed today (Saturday, May 28) in a Dallas ceremony that Crawford described as “private and personal” despite the rumored 500+ person guest list.

So who is Candice, anyway? The 24-year-old little sister of “Gossip Girl” star Chace Crawford was raised in Dallas. In high school, she competed in two Miss Texas Teen USA pageants, both of which earned her the third runner-up spot.

She went on to attend the University of Missouri, studying journalism and working in the newsroom at local affiliates. During college she also worked at the Dallas CBS affiliate on “The Blitz,” reporting on — what else? The Dallas Cowboys. She still found time to compete in the Miss Missouri USA 2007 and 2008 pageants. She won in 2008, going on to represent Missouri in that year’s Miss USA.

She continued her career as a reporter, particularly in the areas of high school sports and Dallas nightlife. She co-hosted Dallas’s CW affiliate’s “The RC Project,” in which she and Roni Proter reported on trends and lifestyle in Dallas.

All in all, Crawford is a good Texas girl — if you don’t count a 2007 arrest for underage possession of alcohol. Oops? She met Romo in 2009 and the pair became engaged in December 2010, on her 24th birthday.
