Eagles blitz Dallas Cowboys 34-7

PHILADELPHIA — Michael Vick threw two touchdown passes, LeSean McCoy had a career-best 185 yards rushing and two scores, and the Philadelphia Eagles routed the Dallas Cowboys 34-7 Sunday night.

Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan fired up the Eagles with some trash-talking during the summer after they added several big-name players. Ryan, the son of beloved former Philadelphia coach Buddy Ryan, called the Eagles the “all-hype” team and predicted the Cowboys would “beat their (butt).”

He was way off.

The Eagles (3-4) dominated right from the start, improved to 13-0 after a bye under coach Andy Reid, and snapped a five-game losing streak at Lincoln Financial Field that dated to last season.

The long-haired Ryan paced the sideline and desperately tried to figure out how to stop Vick and Co. It didn’t happen until the fourth quarter, when the game was out of reach.

The Eagles racked up 495 total yards and held the ball for 42:09. They thoroughly outplayed a defense that came in ranked seventh in the NFL.

DeMarcus Ware was one of the few who played well for Dallas (3-4). He had four sacks, and has 12 this season.

Coming off a 253-yard rushing performance in a win over St. Louis, Cowboys rookie DeMarco Murray was held to 74 yards on only eight carries.

The defending NFC East champion Eagles entered the season with a Super Bowl-or-bust mentality after adding six former Pro Bowl players in free agency and trades.

After two straight wins, the Eagles are in a three-way tie with Dallas and Washington for second place behind the New York Giants (5-2).

Vick completed 21 of 28 passes for 279 yards and led the Eagles to points on their first six possessions.

Dallas Cowboys Fall Hard to Philadelphia Eagles on…

Sunday, Oct. 30, was an embarrassing day to be a Dallas Cowboys fan. Coming off the win over St. Louis, Dallas fans had to feel great. Sure, the Rams were not a good team but they beat the Saints this week so the win had to mean something. Besides, Dez Bryant(notes) came to life and DeMarco Murray(notes) gave Dallas the running threat they have not had all season.

The big talk was the No. 1 rushing defense against the No. 1 rushing offense. By the end of the game, Philadelphia proved why they have the No. 1 rushing offense and the Dallas Cowboys got spanked, 34-7. LeSean McCoy(notes) ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Before this game, Steven Jackson’s 70 yards were the most gained against the Cowboys. Michael Vick(notes) ran for 50 yards on his own. By the end of the game, the Eagles had 239 rushing yards and Dallas will surely drop in the defensive standings.

Meanwhile, the Dallas offense looked horrible.

Tony Romo(notes) was off the entire game. He only had one interception but constantly overthrew receivers, bounced a few balls off the turf and just seemed to be shaken the entire game. One play when Dallas was in the red zone, Laurent Robinson(notes) ran the wrong route and bumped into Jason Witten(notes), who was supposed to cut out for a pass in the corner of the end zone. That is the kind of game Dallas played against the Eagles.

Dallas’ leading tackler Sean Lee(notes) left the game injured. Mat McBriar(notes), the Dallas punter and one of the best in the NFL, left the game with a foot injury. By the end of the game, few people were even talking about the four sacks DeMarcus Ware(notes) finished with, moving within 0.5 of the NFL lead.

The loss drops Dallas into a three-way tie for second in the NFC East. Vicariously, that is also a three-way tie for last. Philadelphia holds the current tiebreaker although Dallas remains ranked above Washington, thanks to their win earlier in the season. This was a huge game for the Cowboys and they fell on their face.

Next up is two home games with Seattle and Buffalo and Dallas has to hope they can rebound from this quickly or the downward spiral will begin.

Tony Romo Fantasy Update: Dallas Cowboys Struggled…

Read More: Laurent Robinson (WR – DAL), Tony Romo (QB – DAL), Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys

Tony Romo didn’t have a good night for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, either in real life or for fantasy football purproses. The Cowboys quarterback completed 18 of his 35 passing attempts for a touchdown and an interception in a 34-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Romo was unable to really get anything going against the Eagles. He was sacked twice on the team’s opening drive and never really looked like he was comfortable, eventually culminating in the Cowboys trailing 24-0 at halftime. It did seem he found a new favorite receiver, however, as Laurent Robinson caught five passes for 103 yards and the only touchdown of the game.

Cowboys Vs. Eagles Final Score: Michael Vick,…

Read More: eagles vs cowboys, cowboys vs eagles, dallas vs philadelphia, Laurent Robinson (WR – DAL), Michael Vick (QB – PHI), Tony Romo (QB – DAL), LeSean McCoy (RB – PHI), DeMarco Murray (RB – DAL), Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, Oct 30, 2011 8:20 PM EDT

The Dallas Cowboys were expected to have some troubles with the Philadelphia Eagles considering the Andy Reid led team is typically excellent coming off of bye weeks. Not many guessed the final score would be 34-7, however, as Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy led the Dream Team to a drubbing of America’s Team.

The Eagles were led by Michael Vick to a 24-0 lead at halftime before slowing down a bit in the second half. That didn’t hurt the statistics put up by Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy, however. Vick passed for 279 yards and two touchdowns through the air and added 50 more yards on the ground while McCoy had a career day with 185 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

The Cowboys struggled, to say the least, as Tony Romo completed just 15 passes for 178 yards while running back DeMarco Murray was limited by the score — though he made the most of his time on the field by rushing for 74 yards on just eight carries. Laurent Robinson was a bright spot, however, as he hauled in five catches for 103 yards and two highlight-worthy plays.

The Cowboys will look to get back on track next weekend as they host the Seattle Seahawks while the Eagles play their second prime-time game in as many weeks, this a Monday Night Football affair against the Chicago Bears.

Seahawks Look Ahead to Weak Dallas Cowboys Team: A…

The Seattle Seahawks just lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, but it’s time to look ahead to Week 9 and an underperforming opponent. The Seahawks head south to play the Dallas Cowboys, a team that has been horrible again this year. After finishing 6-10 in 2010, the Cowboys were trying to make it back to the postseason, but instead we find them tied for last place in the NFC East.

It’s a bit ironic that the Cowboys and Seahawks have both given up the same number of points this season (162), but the Cowboys have found much more success on offense. That wasn’t the case in Week 9 though, when the Philadelphia Eagles blasted the Cowboys 34-7. That embarrassing loss for the Cowboys might force the team to get tougher in Week 10, and that is bad news for the Seahawks . That they gave up 495 yards is a ray of light though, because Philadelphia was just 2-4 before that game.

So how can the Seahawks stay in the game against Dallas? By pressuring quarterback Tony Romo(notes), mistakes are bound to happen. Romo completed just 18-of-35 passes against Philadelphia, and Dallas worked hard at becoming just the third team to lose to the Eagles this year. Now maybe the Seahawks can send them to another disappointing finish to the season, just like when the Seahawks eliminated the Cowboys in the postseason a few years ago.

There were some key mistakes against the Bengals that the Seahawks have to correct, and if the team is successful, it might turn this season around. Though the Seahawks are now 2-5 through the first eight weeks of the season, eliminated punt return and defensive touchdowns will go a long way towards keeping games closer. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson(notes) is finally getting into a nice rhythm with his wide receivers, and that can only lead to a lot of success with the team. Maybe that will even turn into something that the team can build around Jackson and come back in 2012 with an even stronger outlook.

It’s time to send a message next Sunday in Dallas, and the Seahawks definitely have the weapons to hang with an overrated Cowboys team.
